Real Madrid will be looking to make it four La Liga victories in a row when they continue their 2020-21 campaign away to struggling Real Valladolid on Saturday night. Los Blancos will enter the contest off the back of a 2-0 win over Valencia last weekend, while Valladolid picked up a point at Eibar in their last game but are still inside the relegation zone. Los Blancos will be determined to stay close to Atletico in the event that Diego Simeone’s side go through a difficult run, but the reigning champions also have a last-16 Champions League clash with Atalanta BC on the horizon, facing the Italian side in the first leg on February 24.

Real Madrid travel to Valladolid on Saturday, as Zinedine Zidane’s men look to close the gap on Atletico Madrid at the top of La Liga. Madrid are currently six points off their city rivals, having played a game more than Diego Simeone’s side. Los Blancos are currently on a three-game winning streak, and Zidane will be hoping that his side can make short work of a struggling Valladolid side. Zidane will also have one eye on Real Madrid’s upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Italian outfit Atalanta on Wednesday. With that in mind, he could ring in the changes for the match against Valladolid.

Real Madrid’s front three are also going to be quite predictable due to the injuries the team is currently going through. Marco Asensio will start on the right flank with Vinicius Junior on the left. Both players need to take the opportunities given to them at the moment and while Vinicius is showing it well, Asensio will need to show more. Neither player can be comfortable in their positions as they have some tough competition returning from injury soon.

Last weekend, los Blancos beat Valencia 2-0 at Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano; Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos the scorers.

This means Zinedine Zidane’s side have won three in a row in La Liga, only losing one of their last 13.

However, the champions remain second, seven points behind Atlético Madrid who have a game in hand.

The next el Derbi Madrileño is on 7 March so Real need to make sure the gap does not get any bigger before then.

In the more immediate future, this forthcoming Wednesday in fact, los Merengues will travel to Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia to take on Atalanta in the Champions League last 16 first leg.
