Real Madrid vs Ath Bilbao Semi-Finals Live Reddit Score 2 Dec 2021

Real Madrid return midweek for home action against Athletic Club on Wednesday. This is the second of two top 10 opponents Real will face in a tough stretch of matches this week. Los Blancos are coming off a big home win against Sevilla over the weekend. The victory pushes their first place lead to four points ahead of second place Atletico Madrid and drops Sevilla to fourth in the league table. Real Madrid remain without both Gareth Bale and Dani Ceballos. Eden Hazard and Rodrygo both return to the squad after recovering from stomach issues.

Athletic are also having a strong season so far where they sit eighth in the standings, just three points trailing Barcelona and four points outside of a top six spot. However, they haven’t registered a win in their last five where they’ve lost once and drawn four times in that stretch. Real are unbeaten in their last 12 matches against Athletic. A win on Wednesday will be their best against Bilbao all-time. Athletic Club will be without Yuri Berchiche, Dani Vivian, Asier Villalibre and Peru Nolaskoain due to injuries. Inigo Martinez is suspended Wednesday after picking up a red card in Athletic’s last match against Granada.

Real Madrid welcome Athletic Club to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu this Wednesday night in the rescheduled LaLiga Santander Matchday 9 meeting between the two teams. Los Blancos have the chance to open up a seven-point lead at the top of the table with a victory, while Los Leones will be looking to record their first victory since October 23. Stay with us for all the build-up to Real Madrid vs Athletic Club and then updates from the match itself.

After drawing with Osasuna on October 27, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have won six on the trot, racking up victories against Elche, Shakhtar Donetsk, Rayo Vallecano, Granada, Sheriff Tiraspol and Sevilla. In fact, they haven’t lost since October 3 against Espanyol and have only lost once at home all season, with that coming against Sheriff in the Champions League in September.

Following the return of manager Carlo Ancelotti over the summer, Real Madrid have had a relatively strong start in their bid to reclaim the La Liga title.

In line with an improvement in the Champions League, with the Madrid giants confirming their passage to the round of 16 with a double over Shakhtar Donetsk and a victory against Sheriff Tiraspol consecutively, they have also strung four league wins together heading into Wednesday.

After wins over Elche and Rayo Vallecano heading into the recent international break, Ancelotti’s men picked up where they left off upon the return, firstly thrashing Granada 4-1 thanks to goals from Marco Asensio, Nacho, Vinicius Junior and Ferland Mendy.

Vinicius was again on the scoresheet last time out, as he secured all three points for his side in the dying minutes against Sevilla, after Karim Benzema had drawn them level in the first half at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With previous league leaders Real Sociedad falling to a defeat at the weekend, Los Blancos now boast a four-point lead at the summit of the Spanish top flight, having won 10 of their 14 games, and they will be keen to make it five on the spin on home turf on Wednesday.

They welcome an Athletic Bilbao side looking to arrest a slump, with the visitors failing to win any of their last five league outings.

Marcelino’s men enjoyed a strong start to the domestic campaign, collecting 16 points from their opening nine La Liga matches, but their form has since taken a dip.

After draws with Espanyol and Real Sociedad, the Basque outfit suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat to strugglers Cadiz prior to the international break.

Since their return, Athletic Club have failed to beat Levante and Granada, both of whom sit in the bottom five with the former winless so far this term, playing out disappointing draws on both occasions.

As a result, Marcelino’s side have now dropped to eighth spot in the top flight, and they face a particularly tough task on Wednesday in their bid to halt the difficult run and climb back into the top six.
