Dreams of a continental and domestic double will end for Chelsea or Manchester City this weekend, as the two sides lock horns in Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium. Both clubs booked their spots in the semi-finals of the Champions League in midweek, as Thomas Tuchel’s men overcame Porto 2-1 on aggregate while Pep Guardiola’s quarter-final hoodoo ended with a dominant 4-2 success over two legs against Borussia Dortmund. Chelsea are aiming to go one better in the FA Cup after losing to Arsenal in last season’s final, while Man City were knocked out at this stage by the Gunners in the 2019-20 tournament.

Two serial trophy winners go head to head for a place in the FA Cup Final. This century, Chelsea have won 20 major honours, more than any other English clubs, including six FA Cups. They’re looking to reach their tenth FA Cup final since 2000, doing so last season. The good news fo Blues fans is that the only team to beat them in an FA Cup Final since 1994 is Arsenal who exited the competition in round four. Manchester City meanwhile have won 14 trophies since 2011 and could add four to that tally before the end of the season. Despite losing to Leeds last weekend, Pep Guardiola’s side are 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League and it’s only a matter of time before that is confirmed.

Chelsea will have to make do without Mateo Kovacic, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Andreas Christensen has also been ruled out. Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz appears to be Thomas Tuchel’s preferred front three at present. Kepa Arrizabalaga started recent FA Cup matches and will expect to face Manchester City on Saturday. Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso are in competition to start at left wing-back at Wembley.
