Arsenal should have a fully-fit squad to take to the King Power Stadium, but for one injured goalkeeper. Midfielder Thomas Partey came off the bench in Thursday’s Europa League win over Benfica and will be pushing for a recall following a hamstring injury. Leicester trio Harvey Barnes, Ricardo Pereira and Timothy Castagne are expected to be recalled to face Arsenal on Sunday. Defender Rob Holding (concussion) missed the trip but is in contention as manager Mikel Arteta must decide if any players are in need of a rest.
Leicester’s European journey for the 2020-21 campaign has finished, but they are still in the FA Cup – taking on Man United in the quarter-finals of the competition on March 21 – and have plenty to play for in the league as they bid to secure a return to the Champions League for the 2021-22 season. Leicester City’s victory lifted them to 15-6-4 (third place with 49 points) while Arsenal’s loss dropped them down to 10-11-4 (11th place with 34 points). We’ll see if the Foxes can repeat their recent success or if Arsenal bounces back and reverse their fortune.
Arteta’s side have already come home with one victory in Leicestershire from the League Cup when both sides rotated their teams heavily. But with the return of Aubameyang banging in the goals, including a double in their win against Benfica in the Europa League, Arteta believes if the Gabon international can continue at his best then they may have a far more successful end to the season than previously thought. When asked if the Arsenal captain has returned to his best, Arteta said: “Yes, because he is getting into much better positions, his rhythm during the games is much better with and without the ball, his movement.
